Yellow Pine

In 1902 Al Behne, the first settler in Yellow Pine Basin, built a cabin on Johnson Creek.  A few other homesteaders joined him during the Thunder Mountain Boom (1902, 1903), which occurred eighteen mile east of Yellow Pine.  In the 1920s Bradley Mining Company began to develop mines at Stibnite, fourteen miles from Yellow Pine.  About 125 men worked there during the depression, and activity increased during World War Two.  The influx boosted Yellow Pine to the status of a town.

Yellow Pine camping

After six years, we went back to Yellow Pine and camped for 14 days at the Ice Hole camp ground.  Thing had changed from 2013.  The Forest Service had built a new camp ground.  It was really nice.  This is a comparison picture from 2013 to 2019.

The doggies, Moki and Emmy, always have fun at Yellow Pine.
